• 2015-2017: Discovered hand-lettering

This was the beginning of my creative journey. I first tried hand-lettering during a summer break and also began to explore photography and collage. These years were all about experimentation and finding joy in art.

  • 2018-2020: Studied communication design

University helped me refine my creative voice and design eye through projects, collaboration and critiques. This period laid the foundation for my design and artistic practice today.

  • 2020-2022: Experimented with mixed media

I began exploring mixed media, combining collage, watercolour, and illustration techniques. This opened up new possibilities for expressing my ideas. I also navigated creative burnout during these years.

  • 2023-2024: Committed to a regular art practice

I began to dedicate time each week to making art. This consistency has strengthened my creative confidence and has also become an important way to release stress and unwind. I also ran my first collage workshop.

Kia ora! I’m Lauren.

I’m a passionate creative based in Tāmaki Makaurau, New Zealand. One summer, I discovered the craft of hand-lettering. Hidden between inky hands and creative ideas, I found a love for the world of art and design. With an interest in social design, I went on to study a Bachelor of Design at AUT and have been working in design and communications ever since, within the not-for-profit sector.

My art journey has included hand-lettering, mixed media art, illustration and paper collage. Free-form shapes, organic textures and bright colours can be seen throughout my work.
